Stanthorpe North Full Day Culture Self Drive Tour

After pre-booking your Stanthorpe accommodation, on arrival we suggest you check in.  Depending on where you are staying, you may wish to first pop into the Visitor Information Centre at 28 Leslie Parade on the creek in Stanthorpe, where the helpful volunteers will assist with your plans.

Begin your northern culture drive in town at the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery in Lock/Marsh Street. Here you will find a large and diverse range of public programmes encompassing more than just the visual arts and across the road pop into Weeroona Art & Craft.

Drive towards the northern end of the town bypass (as if you are heading to Brisbane) and turn east into Amosfield Road to the Lavender Farms. The first is Crystal Ridge in Daniells Lane, which also operates a small animal farm for your family to enjoy. Further down the road is Aloomba Lavender Farm near Liston… the setting is nothing short of spectacular. Both offer a large array of gifts and lavender products.

Returning to Stanthorpe, visit the Stanthorpe Heritage Museum, which is at the top of High Street just south of the showgrounds. There are over 1000 items on display plus a range of out buildings all viewable for a small fee. Witness the unique history of this area brought to life.

Travel north to the New England Highway and you’ll soon reach Possum’s Treasures on the left hand side of the highway. Browse the collection of old wares and collectables, gifts, local arts and homemade products. Possums is located 1km past McDonalds on the left hand side of the highway.

Further north is Glen Niven Pottery located on the right hand side of the New England Highway at The Summit. Glen Niven Pottery is open 7 days a week and guests are invited to view the timeless tradition of pottery making on a traditional wheel. They also have a large array of stoneware pots for sale.

Still heading north, stop in at Vincenzo’s at the Big Apple, which has a large variety of traditional Italian goodies including cheeses, gelati, confectionery, arts & crafts. If you haven’t already eaten, enjoy something in their café or from their fully stocked deli while sampling local wines and liqueurs.

Just over the railway line behind Vincenzo’s is Bella Rosa’s Tea Rooms where you can indulge in the fine old tradition of high tea with all the trimmings. Alternatively, order from the extensive a la carte menu while admiring the selection of gifts and local products on sale. Their Garden Centre is shaded by a large white cedar tree, take a stroll and enjoy the flowers, statues and ambience.

Then settle into your accommodation house where some operators provide platters, or choose to have dinner in one of our many restaurants. Be sure to pre-book restaurants during the peak winter season, on public holidays and festival weekends.
