Stanthorpe's early history was built on tin mining, then over time the fruit industry was developed hence the town's reputation as the apple and grape capital of Queensland. Many of these growers were of Italian origin who drove the production of wine in the early years.

In recent years tourism has taken off, on the back of the growth in our wine industry and winter has been a popular time to visit. However spring blossoms precede an abundance of superb summer fruit, before the autumnal change. The fresh mountain air, and the changing seasons are what has attracted a signficant and active creative community.

The Granite Belt is an interesting place to visit and a great place to live. Many tree changers are discovering , this is far from your average Australian country town.
