Girraween National Park

Girraween National Park is an area of the Granite Belt in South East Queensland. Girraween is located approximately 260km southwest of Brisbane on the Queensland / New South Wales border, near the villages of Ballandean and Wallangarra.

Natural Beauty of Girraween
Girraween is defined by its spectacular granite outcrops and boulders which dominate the landscape. Girraween is home to an amazing variety of wildflowers and animals rarely seen elsewhere, such as the spotted quoll, lyrebird and the turquoise parrot.

With an average elevation of 900m, Girraween has more in common with cooler southern climes than with the sub tropical climate enjoyed by south east Queensland.

Things to do in Girraween
Girraween truly is a paradise for bushwalkers and explorers, and ideal for scenic walks, wildlife viewing, camping and picnics.

During spring Girraween blooms with flowers and shrubs attracting birds, wombats, lizards and wallabies. Girraween has something for everyone:

Getting to Girraween
Girraween is approximately 260km by road southwest from Brisbane. To reach Girraween, turn off the New England Highway 26km south of Stanthorpe or 11km north of Wallangarra and head east through the Wyberba Valley to the park information centre.
