East - Liston

Liston is a small village located just over the state border and technically sits in Tenterfield Shire, though we consider them Granite Belt locals!
HISTORY + HERITAGE
The origin of the name Liston is unknown but we do know it has substantial links to the tin mining era. In the early years this was rough country – famous for bushrangers. There was also a significant Chinese workforce in the area (at Joss house) and the mining industry spread further east to a silver mine at Rivertree. At this time there was a dairy and cheese maker at nearby Wylie Creek; today it is mostly beef cattle and lavender which is produced at Liston. The Liston Hall is the centre of interaction for the community.
ART, CRAFT + CULTURE
Aloomba Lavender is the perfect place to pick up a beautiful gift and learn about the value of lavender. It is also a 4000 acre cattle farm.
NATURE + ADVENTURE
Be mesmerised by water at Undercliffe Falls, located on the Bookookoorara Creek  27kms east of Stanthorpe via Liston. The falls descend 150m, over a 30m wide rock face into a deep pool ideal for swimming in summer. Take a walk track through eucalypt forest across Bookookoorara Creek to Bookookoorara State Forest returning as a circuit back to the creek.
You can also access Bald Rock National Park through Liston – famously offering the largest exposed granite monolith in the Southern Hemisphere.
Travelling north of Liston towards Killarney takes you to the stunning Queen Mary Falls.
