Stanthorpe is officially Queensland’s coldest town.  Hard to believe a town in sunny Queensland has daily frosts in winter, and sometimes even snow! The reason the Granite Belt is so cool is it’s more than 1000m above sea level. This altitude makes Stanthorpe and the Granite Belt the coolest climate in Queensland.

Stanthorpe’s Temperatures
The temperatures in Stanthorpe are regularly 5-7 degrees cooler than Brisbane during the day, and 7-9 degrees cooler overnight. Always bring a jacket for the evenings when you visit Stanthorpe! Layered dressing is the key, as even in winter, sunny days can start off below zero and warm up to 20 degrees by mid-afternoon.
