Smiths Vineyard operates as a commercial grape vineyard and is one of the Granite Belt's most established tourist accommodation providers.
Peter Smith is a former industrial chemist who "retired" from Fiji to plant the vineyard in the 1980s. The property produces classic varieties such as Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc which are sold to neighbouring winemakers. While Peter was establishing the vineyard his wife Anne - a retired nurse and health care professional - established an elegant homestead to operate as a B&B. Shiraz Cottage was added to the estate in the mid 1990s and is ideal for groups wanting the privacy and space to self cater. Smiths Vineyard is centrally located in the village of Ballandean, which is itself the epicentre of the Granite Belt wine country.
Anne Smith takes a very personal approach to hospitality but does not intrude on visitors privacy. Discuss how you would like to spend your visit with Anne and she'll share her knowledge of the region and the best it has to offer. To make an enquiry or to secure your booking either email or telephone Anne Smith (details above) Credit cards accepted. RATES: HOMESTEAD - BED & BREAKFAST
